Attract & Retain your best people

It seems the question on every employer’s mind at the moment is how to attract and retain the best people without throwing more money at them.

In today’s world, employees are seeking more than just a big paycheck. So what are employees looking for? We are hearing time and time again that employees want a positive ‘experience’ in the workplace.

Employees who report having a positive experience are eight times more likely to want to stay at a company (McKinsey Employee Experience survey, 2020). Employee experience is crucial in attracting and keeping employees in today’s market………and we’re not just talking about table tennis in the office and drinks after work. Employers are required now more than ever to think outside the box about ‘meaningful’ value they can offer employees in the workplace.

Meaningful value for employees looks different for each workplace. A lot of time, energy (and money) is spent on finding out why employees leave an organisation but looking at why employees STAY is an opportunity to involve your employees and understand what works for them.

There are a number of things that can contribute to a positive employee experience, including, effective onboarding, genuine values, strong leadership, fulfilling job, clear performance expectations and feedback, workplace flexibility, recognition, learning and development and feeling appreciated, just to name a few.

The next wave of employees aren’t willing to negotiate on personal happiness and well-being. Respectful, flexible and autonomous workplaces will give themselves the competitive edge.
